Prosthetic Dentistry treats missing teeth or treats existing teeth that have significant damage. Restorations are used to replace or restore missing teeth or missing parts of the tooth structure. Dr. Charles uses the following restorations:
Porcelain Crowns and Bridges: Crown and bridge treatment is a long-term method of replacing missing teeth. A crown is placed on an individual tooth, (somewhat like a thimble over your finger) where there is no longer sufficient tooth structure left to place a filling. A bridge spans a space where one or more teeth have been lost in the dental arch. The teeth on either end of the span are crowned, and are referred to as abutments. The false teeth in a bridge that join the abutments are referred to as pontics.
Dental Implants: Dental implants are replacement tooth roots. Dental Implants provide a strong foundation for permanent or removable prosthesis (replacement teeth) that are made to match your natural teeth. They are manufactured from biologically neutral pure Titanium that is accepted by the human body and these implants fuse with the jawbone to form a secure foundation for tooth replacement.
Removable Partials: A removable partial denture is usually made to replace one or more teeth, and is customized to your specific requirements. Removable partial dentures restore your natural appearance and greatly improve the ability to chew and speak clearly.
Full Dentures: A full denture replaces missing teeth and their adjacent tissues. Unlike dental implants, a denture is removable.
